Antonio Cassanoand his wife Carolina Marcialis have just welcomed Christopher, their first child; the couple who got married last June is over the moon with happiness; the baby who weighs more than 3 kilos was born in Genoa yesterday morning. The news was announced on the AC Milanwebsite and quickly spread through the net; famous for his cassanate, the Italian football player is slowly turning into a positive role model as a father and husband. We are sure that he will dedicate his next goal (maybe next Sunday against Sampadoria, his former club) to his son.

According to Gente magazine, one of Italy’s most popular gossip magazines, Eros Ramazzotti will soon marry his girlfriend Marica Pellegrinelli. The couple is expecting their first child together, but as you know the Italian singer has another child from his previous marriage with showgirl Michelle Hunziker. Back in 1990s, their love story trumped all other celebrity news for months on end, so it was rather sad when, only a few years later, Michelle Hunziker filed for divorce.
This tasty side dish uses the traditional Italian products of gorgonzola and radicchio. Italy’s famous blue cheese has become more industrial these days, often with a creamier texture, and you can use it in this recipe with radicchio. Italy has many varieties of radicchio and it will probably be difficult outside the country to get the variegated Castelfranco variety, but any type will do.
For this recipe you need: 150 g of gorgonzola, two heads of radicchio, extra virgin olive oil and pepper. The warm gorgonzola and radicchio salad is prepared by cutting the radicchio in half, washing and drying the pieces, and placing them each on a large square of baking paper. Dress each one with a little olive oil and some pepper.
Drop a slice of gorgonzola into each radicchio half, wrap each parcel in the rest of the oven proof paper, bunching at the top, and place on an oven tray. Bake in the oven at 180 degrees for about 15 minutes. Take the radicchio from the paper and serve immediately.
You can accompany this dish with some good Italian homemade bread, in the rustic style, and even made with walnuts. The warm salad can be served as a first course, or as a side dish to something lighter that needs a little extra.

After the iBreviary for the iPhone appeared, there is a new addition to the book of daily prayers for the iPhone in the form of an iPad app that contains the missal. The application, currently called iMass, has been developed by the Rev Paolo Padrini, who claims that it could make it easier for priests who travel a lot to celebrate mass with their own missal on their iPad.
While he says it won’t replace many of the book-based missals used by priests to celebrate mass, some of them are old and falling apart and need a modern replacement for travelling priests. The iPad application makes it handy for priests to celebrate mass while on the road and will be launched in July in English, Italian, French, Spanish and Latin.
Despite its apparent need for a name, 200,000 people have already downloaded it. Father Padrini heads the Vatican’s new media outreach program for young people, which includes a presence on Facebook and YouTube. We’re still a bit dubious, but if there’s one way to take the message to young people, it’s via technology.

Youth hostels are a great favourite with tourists of all ages; they are popping up like mushrooms all over the country; so if you are planning to spend a few days in Umbria and want to save money, you can stay at one of these cheap and clean hostels for a song! Quite advantageous prices are also offered by the Ostello del Porto at Lovere, Lake Iseo (famous for its sailing school) where you can book a room for 25 euros, but if this sounds too expensive, don’t worry, you can always go to the Ostello della Pace in the enchanting city of Assisi; a room there with private bathroom and breakfast (served in room) will cost you just 19 euros per person!
