If you’ve been to Italy’s mountain regions at Christmas, you’ll know about the magic of Christmas in Italy in the snow and cold, with Italian mulled wine and other treats for Christmas. The Christmas market in Bressanone, open until January 6 for epiphany in Italy, is one of the richest atmospheres for an alpine Christmas (or in the case, the Dolomites in Trentino Alto Adige).

Numerous chalets around the town of Bressanone have local “sudtirolese” products on offer, while the historic centre with its monuments and cultural treasures, has bars open to taste Italian Christmas specialities.

The Bressanone Christmas market takes place in piazza Duomo and is open every day until 7pm (or 4pm for December 24 and 31), and plenty of associated events take place too, including a carriage ride of the town, a steam carousel, guided tours of the Duomo, alpine songs and recipes from the Valle Isarco.
