Saint Valentine's day breaks in Italy: Hotellerie de Mascognaz, Valle d'Aosta

posted: Wednesday 21 January 2009 by Giorgio in: Aosta Valley Travel in Italy

At the foot of Monte Rosa there’s this small village called Mascognaz; actually it’s just an hamlet founded more than seven centuries ago. The picturesque church, the old bakery and the typical rascard houses made of pine and larch wood are a throwback to a bygone era.

The big news is that three of these rascard houses have just been converted into a hotel called Hotellerie de Mascognaz. The old barn for instance has been turned into a beautiful suite which combines elegance and romanticism; perfect for Saint Valentine’s day.

Guests can relax at the wellness centre which offers a wide range of treatments from Jacuzzi and Turkish bath to massages or work out at their well-equipped gym; the place also offers a first rate cuisine based on simple, locally available ingredients. If you want, you can book through Equinoxe; the suite Monte Rosa will cost you € 800 per day, but if you decide to stay for three or more days, you will get a discount (the price will then go to 600 euros per day). And remember, the village is so secluded that it can be reached only on foot and through a really small mule path.
