Deciding which pizza or pizzeria is the best is one of Italians’ favourite sports. Today we’re going to examine the pizzerias in Milan, in particular those that prepare the best “pizza al trancio” - take away sliced pizza that is often higher than the flat kind you find in restaurants.
A little while ago our friends over on 02blog launched a neverending discussion about Milan’s best pizza.
If you’re not interested in the ho-hum classic tourist restuarants published in all the guides, and you want to taste a slice of pizza, the readers of Gustoblog recommend Spontini as the best pizzeria in the city.
Beware: it’s not a pizzeria where you can spend fun times chatting with friends. The interior is simple, small and it’s normal to wait in line at the entrance. When you’ve finished eating you are politely requested to leave the table. This type of service is not typically Italian (or is it…?) but the pizza is so good that customers will do anything to have a bite.
On the Pizzeria Spontini site a wonderful picture on the home page shows customers waiting outside to enter and order. The take away service also lets you eat your pizza outside, in the park, at home or hiking between one metro station and the next. Conveniently the pizzeria is located in Corso Buenos Aires - one of the great shopping districts of Milan.
