The initial idea from Italian online bidding site, Bidplaza, was to put up for auction, in amongst the mobile phones and i-pods, a night with model Melita Toniolo, also known as the Diavolita. There was just one small catch - apparently Melita didn’t know anything about it. And now she does, someone’s going to be very disappointed as she’s not going.

Whichever way the whole thing went (did she or she didn’t know?), the Diavolita has now been replaced on the Bidplaza site with a very tame supercar. The auction was originally offering an evening in a private room in the Le Blanc disco with Melita, plenty of champagne and finally a room in a luxury hotel.

All in very bad taste, and Toniolo has apparently stated that the whole debacle has been damaging to her image. The Diavolita was originally “discovered” after a stint on Italy’s Big Brother (they take auditions for the show very seriously here) and since the auction episode, has broken up with her boyfriend. It all just goes to show that when you get your face on a magazine somewhere, things can get tricky.
