Restaurants in Umbria: Taverna de' Massari at Norcia, Perugia

posted: Friday 30 October 2009 by Giorgio in: Umbria Restaurants

A few days ago I had the chance to visit the lovely town of Norcia in Umbria; a medieval town where time stood still and the pace of life is slow by most standards. But this time I’m not here to talk about its charms but I want to focus on the Taverna dei Massari, a restaurant which is a treasure trove of exquisite flavours from Umbria‘s traditional cuisine; famous for its truffle-based dishes, the Taverna dei Massarie is a true paradise for gourmets. Their superb menu included gnocchi with milk and scorzone cheese, fillet with mushrooms and truffles and delicious canapés with truffles. The price was a bit on the steep side, but I really enjoyed the meal so I can’t wait to go back and bask in that warm atmosphere that the Taverna de Masserie quietly bestows upon its patrons.
