Italy’s most famous nativity scene tradition comes from Naples, and we’ve seen before the many workshops and their modern interpretations with the Michael Jackson nativity scene and the Barack Obama nativity scene.

If you’re more interested in classic depictions of the birth of Jesus, you should try Emilia Romagna, which also has an old tradition of creating nativity scenes. A sculpture exhibition of the work of Ilario Fioravanti is being held at Sogliano al Rubicone, where you can see beautiful Italian nativity scenes made from carvings, pieces of frescoes, terracotta, tiles and large sculptures. The nativity scene exhibition is open until the 7th of January.
