A recent interview with style.it has revealed the inner musings of football stars and their love lives, or at least the musings of Luca Toni, ex Fiorentina player, who recently battled through the European championships along with the rest of the Italian team.

After his rather disappointing appearence of at the European championship, we give you some comments from his interview about football, but mostly about his girlfriend, Marta Cecchetto, sex and cheating on your partner.

Do you like dancing?
I met Marta at a disco, when I was playing in Empoli. She made the first move, slamming a door in my face.

Did you have girlfriends before Marta?
A couple of relationahips, not girlfriends as such. They had cars: let’s just say I combined use with nicety.

Do you think you’re handsome?
I like myself, with my faults

Marta is very beautiful. Are you a jealous man?
We’re both jealous, but we find the idea of being courted by others fun.

If you found Marta had betrayed you, would you leave her?
I would ask myself why it had happened, but I wouldn’t say enough just because of that. In 10 years of relationship we’ve had our problems, but we’ve been able to get through them.

Will you get married?
Definitely - and I’ll want lots of children.

Does having sex before a match hurt the game?
I think it is actually good for it. Maybe the evening before, not a minute before.

So there you have it - not the most profound interview I’ve ever read but with the shocking news that you don’t have to abstain from sex before big matches! Which might explain Luca Toni’s disappointing performance…
