Why should you waste your money on a 5-star hotel when you can have more or less the same kind of service by booking into a 3-star hotel? We are talking about a nice restaurant called Hotel Benacus in Malcenise on Lake Garda. It has 29 rooms with a direct dial phone, tv set, hair dryer, air conditioning, wireless connection and a safe for your valuables. You can even hire a bike and take a romantic ride around the lake!

Lunch and dinner are not included in the package and the stay will therefore cost you only 50 euros per night.
By the way, don’t forget to visit the old castle by the lake. It used to belong to the Della Scala family who ruled Verona for a couple of centuries. There’s a rather funny story about it. Goethe, the famous German writer, was accused of being a spy just because he had drawn a sketch of the castle and its beautiful surroundings. I’m afraid that people, back then, could be terribly suspicious!
