Only a few days ago our colleagues over at 06blog interviewed Sarah Nile (a great favourite with the Blog if you know what I mean) who has just been voted out of Italy’s Big Brother house. The 23 year old girl who started her career as a painter (she held exhibitions all over Europe) was born in Naples to an Italian mother and French father. She’s now planning to move to Rome to boost her career as a showgirl on Italian television; her resumé includes hot steamy pics for Playboy Italy. A list of new year resolutions for Italy about Italian show girls, breasts and the prime minister? Most countries wouldn’t normally make one at a national level but we think we can sum up a possible 2010 promise for Italy in one simple phrase: less is more. We know, from living in Italy, that people overseas love Italians for their sometimes flamboyant nature, the weird quiz show programs on Italian television and the accompanying show girls, and anything from pasta to traffic jams.

But it can get tiring and utterly exaggerated when you think about the antics of Italy’s prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi, or the constant parade of often mediocre, but half-dressed girls on Italian television screens. So we’re making a list of examples where “less is more” should be the 2010 motto for Italy. Here goes:

• Cristina del Basso and Italian boob jobs:

  We all know that about 80 percent of Italian show girls get their breasts enlarged. Silicon is the friend of many a ’sexy’ Italian woman, but when you go from what was already apparently a ‘D’ cup, to an ‘F’, things are getting a little on the big side. A good lesson for Italian women in 2010 would be: everything in small doses. Ditto for colagen in lips.

Soon we’ll be bringing you a list of Italy’s best show girls for 2009, but before we do we have to catch up on who’s being doing what on Italian television. The biggest boobs in Italian show business, those of Cristina del Basso, got a gig on variety show Colorado Cafe after their exploits on Big Brother Italy, and of course, Cristina del Basso’s calendar.

Appearing alongside Cristina is Melita Toniolo, who after the auction scandal, a different Big Brother series and a summer of eternal boyfriend-swapping, has also joined the ranks of Colorado’s dancing girls.

Completing the trio in this video is Francesca Fioretti who we saw mostly recently modelling lingerie, but who was a fellow housemate in the Big Brother household. Will it never end? From Italy’s Big Brother season nine, came Cristina del Basso whose boobs nearly stole the show. But not so for Francesca Fioretti, fellow housemate, who has also seen a modelling career blossum after the most famous program on Italian television gave her the needed boost into fame and fortune. It also happens that she started a love story during the program, with the guy who ended up winning, Ferdi Brisa.

Since then, Italy can’t get enough of Francesca and her looks, and her relationship with Brisa has had plenty of chins wagging. Francesca describes herself as a sensual woman, and not your typical girl next door type (neither is Cristina del Basso for that matter. Every series of Italy’s Big Brother has at least one hysterical housemate. Here there are two, Veronica and Gabriele, who have apparently been doing nothing but arguing since they got in there, for the joy of Italian television viewers. For today’s lesson on the Italian language, and Italian swear words, you only need to watch the video. Which towards the end gets very trashy with our young, wannabe Italian show girl going off her brain when Gabriele says that you could buy her with just one “lira”.

Apparently she’s the classic hot chick with “only sawdust for brains” as one commenter says on Gossipblog. But then there are those who say she isn’t attractive at all (especially without make-up), and then….Oh the controversies! It’s tough going in the Big Brother household, and we’ll be bringing you more of this exciting action in the future.

Italy’s 10th series of Big Brother has started on Italian television and as you can guess from previous contestants, this year has its fair share of future Italian show girls as well. After previous housemates got famous: Cristina del Basso for her boobs and her calendar, Laura Drzewicka for her photo shoots and Raffaella Fico for her (apparent) relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo, who knows what this season will bring?

Italy’s Big Brother 10th edition features the, by now, essential South-American-girl-in-an-Italian-reality with Belen Rodriguez look-alike, Camila Sant’Ana. We have former Miss Italy finalist Sabrina Passante and cute Carmen Andolina, an “orphan” from Sicily.

Cristina del Basso what next? After Big Brother, after the Cristina del Basso calendar, the Italian (insert profession here) with the biggest boobs around has plans for she knows not what. In an interview with Ecco magazine, she reveals that the calendar is only a first step, saying:

The calendar was something I wanted to do but it’s not a finishing point for me, it’s only the start. While I’m sure of myself and my body and I love being at the centre of attention, initially I was embarrassed: stripping in front of ten people is never easy. The good thing is I worked with great professionals who managed to make me feel at ease. I never felt scrutinised, not even for a minute.

Shame, for the girl who loves attention and spent whole weeks on television in Italy’s Big Brother household. Cristina says of the Big Brother experience:

Participating made me grow up. When inside, you have are compelled to a great internal knowledge, confronting your weaknesses and your strengths. All the certainties you have created for yourself disappear instantly.

Well, looking at Cristina’s calendar, her confidence(s) seem to be quite evident. If the calendar is only a first step, where exactly does she want to go???
