2009 produced some fantastic gossip from Italy, with many Italian people following the relationship between Belen Rodriguez and paparazzi king, Fabrizio Corona. But for 2010 the Italian couple at the centre of some of Italy’s most sordid gossip, has hit a snag in the form of legal proceedings for the photographer.

Fabrizio Corona had been accused of extortion, and has since been found guilty, sentenced to three-and-a-half year’s jail. This could get in the way of his love affair with Belen, described by the lady herself as a truly genuine affection between the two. But this is not a fairytale, and tensions over the legal sentence are already appearing.

Belen Rodriguez, who had originally broken up with AC Milan player, Marco Borriello, for Corona, had once said that if her beloved had to go to prison she would wait even 40 years for him. Romantic words, and Corona has reciprocated by saying that he believes in marriage and that Belen is also a person of sound principles.

But since the sentence, Belen has said that if she had to get married tomorrow, she would be an idiot with all these problems. Will the Rodriguez-Corona true love story last through 2010 and a prison sentence for Italy’s most famous paparazzo…?

There are many ways of gaining yourself a “good boy” image, and famous paparazzi photographer Fabrizio Corona knows a few tricks. He has been appearing in court well dressed in a suit and tie, though given the character of the man involved, I’m not sure he’s pulling off the squeaky clean image quite as planned.

Corona is famous for a few things in Italy: for sex on the beach, for using photographs to extort money from celebrities, drug dealing, and promoting prostitution; and for being the new boyfriend of Belen Rodriguez, Argentinian model and adopted Italian show girl. Many Italians are confused though, as to why Belen would choose Corona over hot (and nice?) Italian footballer and AC Milan player, Marco Borriello. Could it have something to do with sleeping with the enemy, and therefore avoiding the unpleasant flash of Corona’s camera?
