In news from Italy this week we get everything from the possibility of natural disasters to gossip over Italian football coaches and in the meantime you’d think Carla Bruni was Italy’s first lady for all the attention she gets in the press here. See the news below:
AC Milan coach Allegri illegally parks in Milan
We’ve seen the kind of parking that is “acceptable” in Rome, and while Milan is a busy city too, generally the northerners are slightly more disciplined. In the photo above, though, we see AC Milan coach, Massimiliano Allegri parking in a no-parking zone near a pedestrian crossing, in the opposite direction to a one-way street. And nearly risking an accident as he pulls away in his Audi A1.
A Roman Holiday for earthquake scare
After news broke that Lazio and Rome was facing a possible earthquake, the city either went into fright or went into holiday mode. With people avoiding built-up areas (and therefore office blocks), when the earthquake never really happened, a figure of 20 percent absenteeism from work in Rome was recorded. Apparently excuses displayed in closed shop windows included the following: “closed for family reasons”, “closed for wedding”, and simply “reopening tomorrow”.

Italian football player and Rome veteran, Francesco Totti, is selling his 500 m2 attic. Amusing gossip from Italy though, says that the captain of the “giallorossi” - red and yellow team - would like to eliminate certain prospective clients from the list. According to Panorama magazine, the Italian real estate ad goes as follows:
“For sale: 500 m2 attic with terrace and swimming pool, large jacuzzi and relax zone. 5,300,000 euros negotiable, no time wasters or Lazio fans.”
It seems the old Italian football rivalry of Rome-Lazio goes beyond just soccer. So if you have a spare five million euros but are a Lazio fan, you had best look elsewhere for your luxury apartment. In the photo is Totti years back on his wedding day with Ilary Blasi.

After the love story between Barbara Berlusconi and Pato, current AC Milan football player and golden boy, more gossip from Italy involving the Berlusconi family is revolving around Eleonora Berlusconi, Barbara’s 25-year-old sister. She is said to be dating English model, Guy Binns, whom she apparently met at a Milan fashion show.
According to reports from British tabloid, The Sun, the two have been constantly sending Facebook messages and SMS since they first met, and that Eleonora could even visit his local town in the near future. More in line with the family’s luxury lifestyle, though, Berlusconi and Binns are said to be planning a Caribbean holiday.
The Sun paper quotes a friend of Binns who says:
“He’s never had trouble attracting girls but she’s nothing like his normal sort.”

More gossip from Italy over local Italian football players has a break up between Christian Vieri and his girlfriend Melissa Satta. The Italian showgirl denied only recently that there were some problems in their relationship, saying she still loved her ‘Bobo’ Vieri, as he is known locally. But Vieri’s declaration over the weekend to Eurosport was this:
“It’s all over with Melissa.”
According to rumours, a possible liaison with another Italian showgirl, Sara Tommasi, could be the reason for the break. Vieri and Satta have been together for five years in what appeared to be a happy relationship as they swapped publicity opportunities and Satta started attempts at a modelling career in the US, aiming for Victoria’s Secret but landing a Sports Illustrated shoot instead.
According to some cynical comments on Gossipblog.it, Satta will be off to find someone richer (and probably won’t have any problems there) after her Italian WAG experience, and while Vieri’s career is pretty much over, he will have enough money to find himself someone just as young and pretty.

Mario Balotelli’s extraordinary talent seems to have spent less time on the field of English football than his difficult personality has in their tabloid papers. And it’s not just football controversy that is plaguing the Italian player, but his other extra-curricular activities which have even gotten fellow Italian and Manchester City coach, Roberto Mancini, offside.
So when he can, Mario Balotelli escapes to Milan, where he was recently spotted with former Miss Italy contestant, Sara Galimerti. The two apparently “met” on Facebook and then spent a night dining and dancing together. Galimerti participated in the 2009 Miss Italy contest as Miss Lombardy and follows hot on the heels of another Sara: the now famous Sara Tommasi - Balotelli’s “ex-girlfriend” and current Italian showgirl.

According to Chi magazine, one of Italy’s most eligible bachelors Marco Borriello has found the girl of his dreams. Apparently after breaking up with Argentine show girl Belen Rodriguez, the AS Roma player fell head over heels for Brazilian super model Camila Morais. Just a few days ago the newly-formed couple were spotted dining with Marco Boriello’s parents in Rome, so we can’t help wondering if the Rome player is now planning to settle down and raise a family. If so, he will break the hearts of all his female fans.

The Barbara Berlusconi and Alexandre Pato love story continues after their first public kiss and more than one occasion spotted together in public. The football player and AC Milan star is finding himself under scrutiny for his relationship with the club’s young, female vice president, and the love story is the current favourite topic of gossip from Italy.
These pics show the couple out and about in Milan, as the Brazilian footballer and Silvio Berlusconi’s daughter took in a modern art exhibition in the city. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Pato made the following statements on being pressed about his separation from his first wife and current relationship with Berlusconi’s more famous daughter:
Can we please avoid this topic? [that of his divorce from model Sthefany Brito] I can say that my happiness is very important to me and that at the moment, I’m happy.
Following the question if Barbara Berlusconi is contributing to that happiness:

Former Italian football player with AC Milan, Billy Costacurta, has been the subject of unpleasant rumours in Italy of late, which suggested that his wife, Martina Colombari, had been cheating on him. The rumour was spread by Tgcom and if Colombari’s denials are to be believed it has created a storm in a tea cup (more a very large cup for those involved, we imagine).
Both on television and on a recent radio program, Martina Colombari has denied the rumours she cheated on Costacurta, saying:
I haven’t betrayed my husband. This news has kicked up a lot of dust and has upset my grandparents and great grandparents. After seven years of being together, we had about seven or eight months in which we had a break from each other, and I had a relationship with someone else, and so did he. At the time we weren’t even married and so he was not my husband. It was a time of reflection.
Technically speaking then, Colombari is right, but she needs to be careful with certain statements left to the media (especially as a footballer’s wife) as it was she who had said in the first place: “I haven’t been cheated on, but I have cheated and been forgiven.” Colombari is now the wife of Billy Costacurta and they have a son, Achille.

In the classic Italian show girl tradition, Sara Tommasi has got together with a football player, but not just any old football player - she has admitted to a two-month relationship so far with new AC Milan recruit Ronaldinho. After being snapped recently in company with the footballer, Tommasi finally confirmed the gossip from Italy, saying to tabloid magazine Chi:
“We are going out together, we’ve been going for two months. A couple? Some words always seem a bit exaggerated. We go out together and we have fun. He is very affectionate, kind and polite with a girl like me. He’s a good guy, a really good guy, and he’s better than a girl like me could hope to meet.”
We’re not really sure what all that “girl like me” stuff is supposed to mean, but at least Tommasi hasn’t gone over the top, and even refused to confirm reports for a while. The future may not be smooth riding though, if Ronaldinho were to leave the Milan team, as has been rumoured recently.

Elisabetta Canalis poses for Italian magazine, “A”, as the Italian celebrity finds some new fame overseas through her relationship with George Clooney. As part of the photo shoot Canalis conceded an interview in which she confirms what we wrote about recently - there are no plans for a Clooney wedding at this stage. She says:
George and I have everything we need to be happy to together. But I’m not getting married and I don’t want children. For the moment.
Apart from the constant questions over wedding bells, Canalis is also fielding some more difficult and unpleasant questions, like what she thinks about rumours that George Clooney is gay and she’s just his cover girl handbag. She says:

To decorate his luxury villa on the French Riviera, Roman Abramovich has chosen the most expensive carrara marble available on the market. The Russian multimillionaire has always had a penchant for things coming from Italy, so this choice did not come as a surprise at all. Situated near Montecarlo, this fabulous villa with a breathtaking view over the Mediterranean sea and a park 20, 000 square metres in size can be reached only by helicopter, so there’s no risk of being snapped by paparazzi!

If you hadn’t already guessed it, gossip from Italy and much of the Italian public in general is obsessed with the George Clooney-Elisabetta Canalis relationship and many Italians have been holding their breath over whether the couple will get married or not. If that day ever actually arrives, you can rest assured it will be the biggest event in Italy this side of the year 2000.
Other Italian celebrities may be feeling a little neglected as Elisabetta Canalis takes the limelight off the back of her famous husband. This time round, the favourite title for the gossip pages is ‘Canalis is getting married’ but it’s not for real. The Italian showgirl is to appear in the film A natale mi sposo (At Christmas I’ll get married), directed by Paolo Costella and starring veteran Massimo Boldi.
The film is another example of the trashy ‘cinepanettone‘ version of Italian cinema we’ll be seeing come Christmas, but by that stage we’ll probably be ready for some light-hearted escapism. In the meantime, it looks like the only real moment when Elisabetta Canalis will be donning a wedding dress anytime soon.
