Ilary Blasi and icecream spread in new commercial

By Alison in: Videos People

Here is Ilary Blasi, famous Italian showgirl and wife of Francesco Totti, in the new advertising campaign for Vodafone. The Italian summer has taken off in the last couple of weeks, and we’re seeing more of these kinds of ads, and less of actual programs, on Italian television.

Blasi, who is a brand ambassador for Vodafone together with Totti, appears this time with her two comic sidekicks from Le Iene show, Luca Bizzarri and Paolo Kessisoglu. The comic duo is famous for their work on the program Camera Caffé, which is always set in front of an office coffee machine.

Bimbos and nerds: Maria Teresa Lombardo a first rate 'pupa' on Italian television

By Alison in: People

Maria Teresa Lombardo è quasi nuda

The newest trash program on Italian television is the return of the “pupa e il secchione” which can be translated to something like “the bimbo and the nerd”. In a nutshell, it basically pairs hot but silly Italian girls with the nerdiest brains in Italian engineering and intellectual circles. Obviously the men are very unattractive but it’s all in the name of entertainment. Maria Teresa Lombardo is the latest Italian model to appear and here are recent pics of her in a photo shoot. Looking similar to Elisabetta Gregoraci, and with no knickers, she’s perfect “pupa” material.

Ilary Blasi loses a boob on Italian television

By Alison in: Videos People

Ilary Blasi Iene

Francesco Totti’s wife and one of Italy’s favourite show girls, Ilary Blasi, had a little dress problem on satirical Italian television show, Le Iene. On dancing with two popular Italian comedians and co-hosts, Luca e Paolo, Ilary let a breast escape her dress; although maybe the show’s coreographers should re-think her costuming and dance moves…. See the Ilary and boob ‘oops’ video after the jump.

Golden moments from Raimondo Vianello: videos

By Alison in: Videos Movies: actors and actresses People

Raimondo Vianello is considered a true ’signore’ of Italian television, and after his death and funeral, marking the end of an era for Italian viewers, we post a few videos of he and his side-kick and wife, Sandra Mondaini. A few golden lines from Raimondo include:

“I have been trying for years and years to cheat on you but I have never managed it. Never.”

On a magazine quiz:

Sandra - “When you imagine your partner in life, do you see her a) naked, b) in lingerie or c) in a dressing gown.”
Raimondo - “c) in a dressing gown.”

In the videos after the jump, we show the pair in the famous, repeated closing scene of the episodes of Casa Vianello, one of their most popular television shows. RIP Raimondo Vianello.

Valentino Rossi for Italy football coach: Inter, Gli Azzurri and the 2010 World Cup

By Alison in: Sport People

Valentino_Rossi_Iene

After being left without petrol on his victory lap at the Qatar MotoGP, Valentino Rossi was paid a visit by Italian television’s satirical show, Le Iene, who left him with a voucher for five euros of petrol. Not content with just this gesture, however, the show also took the opportunity to ask him a couple of other questions. Like who the most annoying rider in the MotoGP is.

No prizes for guessing that would be Casey Stoner, but Rossi also discussed some current Italian football problems close to his heart. His team, FC Inter, is struggling in the championship, having just been overtaken by Roma in the points ranking, but he is focussing on Internazionale’s campaign in the Champion’s League, saying it’s more important.

In the meantime, Rossi has also left his advice regarding Italy’s strikers for the 2010 World Cup, putting Cassano, Balotelli and Miccoli up front. When he knocks off from racing, we’re thinking sidekick to Italy’s national football coach wouldn’t be a bad job for the world MotoGP champion.

Italian singers: new talent from Amici television final

By Alison in: Music: singers and songs Videos

Italy’s talent show ‘Amici’ concluded this week, with some tough competition from the final four candidates who competed for the victory. With most of the competitors already gaining record contracts and entre to other projects, victory on the ‘Amici’ show was the icing on the cake. Above is a video of Italian singer Emma Marrone who won the contest, in front of Loredana, another rock singer with her own individual style.

Other finalists included tenor Matteo, who brought the critics virtually to their feet with his rendition of Nessun Dorma, and Pierdavide - a quirky Italian singer-songwriter who loves performing his own work. You can forget X-Factor - these performers have done the hard yards and gone through the Amici school under some tough criticism and competition, being mentored along the way.

I’ll be frank and say that I really think Loredana should have won. Her voice, presence and style just totally blew me away and hopefully she’s not non-commercial enough for us not to see her on the scene in the future. I doubt you’d find her happily taking her place on television at the Sanremo festival because she is what you’d called an artist. Below are videos of the other finalists and a couple of their performances from the Amici finale this week.

Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia on being a Tv Star

By Giorgio in: People

Emanuele Filiberto

From exile to stardom, the life of Prince Emanuele Filiberto has always been pretty hectic! In a long interview given to Oggi magazine the prince turned showman talked at length about his new career in showbiz. People - told the prince - are tired of rudeness and vulgarity. Good manners and style still make a difference.

But not all that glitters is gold and the prince knows that very well; his late appearance at the festival of Sanremo was heavily criticised (the audience gave him the bird,) but the prince didn’t care a straw, after all he can always count on the love of thousands of doting fans!

John Travolta and Italian show girl Michelle Hunziker on television

By Alison in: Videos Movies: actors and actresses People

Italian show girl and diva of Italian television, Michelle Hunziker, kisses John Travolta in commercials for Telecom Italia. It’s another love affair with American celebrities (see also the promo video for the Marche region with Dustin Hoffman), and the commercials play on a supposed ongoing crush that Hunziker has on Travolta, who then shows up unexpectedly at her house. The commercials are part of an ongoing series and after the jump, you’ll also find a video in which Michelle Hunziker talks about the launch of the ads on Valentine’s Day, and her flirts with ex-husband Eros Ramazzotti.

Valerio Scanu wins Sanremo 2010

By Alison in: Music: singers and songs Festivals

Valerio Scanu wins Sanremo

The “surprise” winner of the 2010 Sanremo festival is Valerio Scanu, with his song “Per tutte le volte che” or “For everytime that”. It’s a controversial victory for Scanu, who was originally eliminated from the contest, only to be reinstated and then win, despite protests from the backing orchestra and apparent audience disapproval. His is the style of classic Italian crooner, which seems to have conquered some of Italy’s female population.

Scanu beat trio Pupo, Emanuele Filiberto and Luca Canonici in second place with “Italia Amore Mio”, and in third place was the talented Marco Mengoni, who we saw win Italy’s X-Factor, with “Credimi Ancora”. After the jump you can find the videos of Valerio Scanu’s live performance of “Per tutte le volte che” at the festival, and the official video of Marco Mengoni with “Credimi ancora”.

Italian show girl Rossella Brescia: from ugly duckling to swan

By Giorgio in: People

Rossella Brescia

During a live interview on Domenica 5 show ( an important Sunday show on Italian television), Italian show girl Rossella Brescia told about her sad childhood and how she used to feel ugly and unattractive (she was a “ mustache girl ” and apparently no boy wanted to go out with her). Things started to change only at 15 when the ugly duckling bloomed into a graceful swan. Well, I’m sure that those boys who turned her down would now be more than happy to change places with her fiancé Luciano Cannito!
