We all know Italian women are fashionable and often very beautiful but in a country which is increasingly concerned about obesity problems among its youth, it turns out that Italian women are among Europe’s thinnest ladies.
The bikini-clad women you’ll be seeing on beaches this Italian summer rate only behind Swiss ladies in the slender stakes in Europe. The results come from studies done by researchers at London’s Imperial College and Harvard to measure the average Body Mass Index (BMW) of the world’s populations.
Italian and Swiss women fared well, while British and Maltese ladies didn’t. If you’re an Italian girl looking for a man thin enough to match the statistics, unfortunately you won’t be able to go local as the thinnest men in Europe are French. In the picture is current Miss Italy, Francesca Testasecca.

After appearing beside Robert de Niro in Manuale d’Amore 3, Monica Bellucci has only increased her fame in Italy and her fascination towards an international audience. Known as one of the world’s great beauties, Bellucci has reached the age of 46 and declares herself more than happy in her skin.
While at times we remain skeptical about actresses vows against plastic surgery, so far Monica Belluccia has said she’ll be avoiding botox and surgery. In recent interviews, Bellucci has said:
“Beauty disappears and you have to face the sand running through the hourglass. But I watch it without anxiety. What’s one little wrinkle? I will do less nude pictures, less love scenes. I’m a 46-year-old who is happy in her own skin, no surgery, no botox.
Bellucci has said she is happier now than when she was 20 or 30 years old, and she declares herself still deeply in love with her Vincent Cassel:

Italy has a new sports star who continues the theme of some very successful Italian women in the sports scene: Francesca Schiavone. Having won the 2010 French Open women’s final, the cheerful and incredulous young lady has become a role model for many of those who work hard at a dream that may never be realised.
And continuing his clever politics prior to Italy’s 2010 World Cup campaign, national football coach Marcello Lippi has nominated Francesca Schiavone the team’s new symbol. He said: “Grit, passion, heart and class: her victory in Paris thrilled me and now she’ll have to be our symbol.”
Lippi’s take on Schiavone’s win is very true - it was a classy but tenacious win and certainly the Azzurri will need to take a leaf out of her book if they want to make their nation proud. The only problem is that Lippi, and the team, are already considered virtually a write-off by the nation they represent and so whether nominating new heros or not works, we can only wait for the World Cup to find out. Could Lippi be aiming for a moral victory already…?

Former Italian supermodel and now French first lady Carla Bruni is known as one of the most sophisticated high profile ladies in the world. In fact, she has had to wear the title of ‘trophy wife’ more than once by Sarkozy detractors. But this photo is one of those moments when all of us normal women in the world who don’t have access to high class stylists and the best of the beauty business can breathe a sigh of relief. In fact, we can gloat, dammit.
That gloating is at the expense of this very unfortunate up-close shot of Carla Bruni. We’re not sure exactly what happened to produce a photo of this kind (too much botox is the word on the street), but it could have started with the use of excessive makeup the morning it was taken, and seeing it you can understand how Sarkozy might want to swap his trophy wife for Chantal Jouanno.
Relieved gloating aside, we publish this photo just in case you needed proof that the beautiful people of the world are very normal people, too. And that I might not live eternally with the shame of the plenty of ugly and embarrassing photos my parents keep of me - may they always stay buried in that cardboard box!

Monica Bellucci might not be the greatest Italian actress who ever lived, but we think she certainly deserves the title of Italian diva for her sultry elegance. In this photo shoot for Max, the Mexico edition, she also concedes an interview with a few pearls of wisdom for us younger girls wondering what that something is that an Italian woman like Bellucci has, that’s missing from many of the other mediocre showgirls out there.
To put the record straight, Bellucci says that she’s not a film star, she’s an actress, and that after making love, a man falls asleep while the woman reflects. At 45 years old, she’s still a very sexy woman, and has plenty of intelligence to share about women and work.

A list of new year resolutions for Italy about Italian show girls, breasts and the prime minister? Most countries wouldn’t normally make one at a national level but we think we can sum up a possible 2010 promise for Italy in one simple phrase: less is more. We know, from living in Italy, that people overseas love Italians for their sometimes flamboyant nature, the weird quiz show programs on Italian television and the accompanying show girls, and anything from pasta to traffic jams.
But it can get tiring and utterly exaggerated when you think about the antics of Italy’s prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi, or the constant parade of often mediocre, but half-dressed girls on Italian television screens. So we’re making a list of examples where “less is more” should be the 2010 motto for Italy. Here goes:
We all know that about 80 percent of Italian show girls get their breasts enlarged. Silicon is the friend of many a ’sexy’ Italian woman, but when you go from what was already apparently a ‘D’ cup, to an ‘F’, things are getting a little on the big side. A good lesson for Italian women in 2010 would be: everything in small doses. Ditto for colagen in lips.
There’s a cat fight in the ranks of Italy’s show girls with former Veline finalist and reality show contestant on Italian television, Sara Tommasi stealing the boyfriend of fellow (mature age) show girl, Sara Varone. Reports say that Sara Tommasi is now an item with Matteo Guerra, though he in the past has said that Manuela Arcuri was his only one true love.
Whatever the case, we thought we’d bring you these hot pics of Sara Tommasi, just so you know who we’re talking about. She has been the protagonist of many an escaped nipple or boob in public, which is no surprise when you consider that after a boob job, you might want to show them off a little. We’ll be bringing you more on this later, but in the meantime for the DolceVita gentlemen readers out there: here’s one Made in Italy you don’t want to miss.

You first saw Alena Seredova on DolceVita winning a prize for the hottest footballer’s wife or girlfriend for 2009. That’s some pretty tough competition for Italian footballer, Gigi Buffon’s partner, who has given birth to their second child, another son, David Lee.
The couple are not yet married, though they have plans to marry sometime in the future, but only when Alena can really let her hair down after giving birth and breast feeding is all over! A small gallery for our readers shows Alena and the couple with their first son.

Italy’s 10th series of Big Brother has started on Italian television and as you can guess from previous contestants, this year has its fair share of future Italian show girls as well. After previous housemates got famous: Cristina del Basso for her boobs and her calendar, Laura Drzewicka for her photo shoots and Raffaella Fico for her (apparent) relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo, who knows what this season will bring?
Italy’s Big Brother 10th edition features the, by now, essential South-American-girl-in-an-Italian-reality with Belen Rodriguez look-alike, Camila Sant’Ana. We have former Miss Italy finalist Sabrina Passante and cute Carmen Andolina, an “orphan” from Sicily.
We won’t be bringing you all of the antics from the Big Brother household (maybe just a couple of videos like Cristina del Basso’s shower scene), but stay tuned because you’re bound to see some of these girls on a calendar near you in the future. After the jump you’ll find a couple of galleries from our favourite past Big Brother girls, Raffaella Fico, Cristina del Basso and Laura Drzewicka.
Former Italian show girl, Elisabetta Gregoraci, Flavio Briatore’s young Italian wife, has captivated American bloggers with a series of hot pics in which the former model shows off her curvaceous body! Take a look at our gallery!
Italian show girl Melissa Satta has said that while Elisabetta Canalis has won a cute boyfriend in the form of George Clooney, Satta herself would never go for a man that old. Discussing the Clooney-Canalis love story with her husband, former Italian football player Christian Vieri, Melissa Satta has said she has a limit of 40 years old as a target for a man.
According to her “Bobo” Vieri is already on the borderline, which begs the question: what is Melissa going to do when her own husband reaches the ripe old age of 40?! (and how will she cope in the future when at a mere 40 years herself old it will be time to be put out to pasture…?).

George Clooney’s new Italian girl Elisabetta Canalis gets the big guns out for France’s FHM. The show girl poses topless for the mag, and looks like she had some fun doing the photo shoot, too. We’re beginning to think that Clooney and Canalis must be the most envied celebrities currently in the world, by both men and all for different reasons.
