Flavio Briatore’s 17 million euro luxury yacht, Force Blue, has been seized by Italy’s special financial police, the Guardia di Finanza. Investigators contend that Briatore has registered the yacht as a charter boat in the Cayman islands, hiring at 275,000 euros a week, in order to get tax breaks when the yacht anchors in European harbours. The Guardia di Finanza says that Briatore uses the yacht mostly for his own private holidays, however, and therefore doesn’t qualify for the tax breaks.
The yacht was impounded in a dawn raid at La Spezia port in Liguria, with Briatore’s wife, Elisabetta Gregoraci, and new son, Falco, onboard at the time. Briatore could be facing a five-million USD fine - a mere slap on the wrist for the millionaire. We don’t whether he will get his yacht back or not in time for summer holidays, though, meaning that the Italian celebrity might be forced to holiday on his own billion dollar Briatore beach in Sardinia.

But the big news is that the yatch, after undergoing a careful restoration, has been put on sale for 1, 45 million euros!
Mariotti shipyard, a holding company founded by T. Mariotti and San Giorgio del Porto in 2008, has just launched a new luxury yacht brand called Mariotti Yachts; a € 9 million investment which will make the Italian ship builder far more competitive (especially when it comes to luxury details) in the global yacht market which, as many of you know, is a rather tough market. The launch of the first luxury yacht, a drop-dead yacht 54 metres long and designed by Luca Dini, took place yesterday. This megayacht has been bought by a Lebanese shipping magnate.

Genoa is hosting the Classic Boat Show again, with an added international vintage boat festival element. Old ships and vessels will be on display, as the exhibition follows the success of last year’s inaugural event. The boat show is on until October 11th at the Genoa port, Marina Genova Aeroporto.
The fair includes all the latest news and technology for yachting and sailing, as well as a space dedicated to historic vessels. The greatest attraction is the Signora del Vento, an 85-metre long schooner, launched in 1962 and used as a school vessel since the 90’s.

In the wake of the Nelson Piquet Junior Formula 1 crash scandal, Italian millionaire Flavio Briatore has quit his role of Managing Director of Renault’s Formula One team. The team has decided not to dispute claims that it ordered Piquet to crash his car deliberately, so that his teammate Fernando Alonso could win the 2008 Singapore Formula One race.
Flavio Briatore is a classic middle age millionaire with a trophy wife, Italian show girl Elisabetta Gregoraci. The couple got married last year in an expensive Italian wedding in Rome. In a little celebrity gossip, Briatore’s former lover Naomi Campbell, was not invited to the ceremony.
This year it seems the Italian celebrity has had a busy summer, holidaying on his luxury yacht off the coast of Sardinia, and attending the Venice film festival. Oh, and pretending the Renault Formula 1 crash scandal would leave him unscathed.

Italian celebrities love their luxury Italian summer holidays, and who better than Giorgio Armani to show us how it’s done? The Italian fashion designer has spent his holidays in Calabria, touring on the Armani luxury yacht, Main by Codecasa.
The luxury yacht cost 40 million euros to build and is 65 metres long. It was launched in the bay of Santa Maria di Ricardi, to the admiration of the holiday-makers, who followed it with interest on scooters, speed boats and even pedal-boats. The Main yacht took three years to build, and the interior was designed by Armani himself.
As if the millionaires of the world worry about such trivialities, apparently maintenance is very expensive, with a full tank of petrol costing 40,000 euros. The Main yacht with Armani on board has travelled the southern Italian region this summer, with an unknown itinerary.
